Proposal to Reduce Number of Children in Foster Care Passes House

Central Virginia- A measure, introduced by Delegate Christopher K. Peace (R-Mechanicsville), to require the Governor, working with the Department of Social Services and other appropriate executive branch agencies, to develop a plan to reduce the number of children in foster care by 25 percent by 2020 passed the House of Delegates today by a vote of 91-6.  The plan will increase the number of safe and permanent placements of children with families and promote healthy families and future positive outcomes for children in foster care.  The plan shall provide for the placement of children currently in foster care or children entering foster care in safe, appropriate, permanent living arrangements. PEACE’S SIGHT PRESERVATION BILL MOVES FORWARD

Appreciating that the gift of sight is precious, State Delegate Chris Peace introduced legislation to protect and advance the delivery of vision care services in Virginia. Local area doctors of optometry brought to the Delegate’s attention concern that illegal sale of cosmetic contact lenses by beauty parlors and flea markets were causing sight threatening eye infections, corneal abrasions, and corneal ulcers. Peace Housing Measure Passes House

Delegate Christopher K. Peace (R-Mechanicsville) announces the unanimous passage his “Livable Home” tax credit measure by the House of Delegates.
